This text presents a synthesis of competing learning theories: operant/behavioural, social and cognitive. It offers a blend of state-of-the-art theory, research and classroom application to help teachers develop personal theories of teaching and learning, resulting in ethnically, socially and economically appropriate teaching strategies for students across the range of abilties and disabilities. Concept maps, marginal notes, questions and other pedagogy are included to highlight and facilitate application of content.
