Ribble, who holds a doctorate in educational leadership, has taught at the secondary and university levels. In this work, he offers guidelines for teaching K-12 students appropriate behaviors in digital society and the appropriate use of technology. The book is intended for educators and technology leaders. It will ideally be used as a team but can also be used individually. The first part of the book overviews nine elements of digital citizenship, including commerce, digital literacy, and security. The second part presents 16 professional development activities for teachers and administrators, in areas such as blogs and wikis for parent communication. The book's third section outlines a framework for teaching digital citizenship to students. This section presents 20 lessons for students in areas such as digital plagiarism and cyber bullying. The student lessons include focus questions, a list of online resources needed, instructions for activities, and teaching tips. The book includes an extensive glossary. This second edition reflects the revised National Educational Technology Standards. There is a new chapter on lessons learned since the first edition four years ago.
